On the 18th minute, Newcastle's Jacob Murphy capitalized on a mistake from Fulham's Calvin Bassey to score a low strike, which caught Fulham's goalkeeper Bernd Leno off guard.
Fulham responded well, and with 15 minutes left in the first half, Sander Berge's shot was parried by Nick Pope, allowing Adama Traore to cross the ball across the face of goal.
As the match entered the final minutes of the first half, Newcastle should have doubled their lead, but Bernd Leno made a crucial save to deny Anthony Gordon's strike.
At the start of the second half, Fulham brought on Kevin, a young Brazilian forward, in an attempt to find an equalizer. Ten minutes into the second half, Kevin's cross found Raul Jimenez, who headed the ball off the crossbar, and Fulham's Sasa Lukic equalized with a well-deserved goal.
Newcastle's manager, Eddie Howe, responded with a triple attacking substitution, but Fulham remained the more likely winner in the final 15 minutes of the match.
However, with five minutes remaining, Newcastle's Joelinton had a header fly into the side netting, and Sandro Tonali's effort was superbly saved by Leno. The Magpies sensed a late twist, and Bruno Guimaraes sealed the win with a 90th-minute goal, slotting home a parried shot by William Osula.
The victory lifts Newcastle to 11th place in the table, while Fulham remains in 16th place, just three points above the relegation zone.
