Nypan was acquired by Manchester City from Rosenborg for £12.5 million in June. He has become Middlesbrough's fifth summer signing, following in the footsteps of Alfie Jones, Callum Brittain, Abdoulaye Kante, and Sontje Hansen.
Nypan started playing for Rosenborg's under-19 team at just 14 years old and made his first-team debut before turning 16, becoming the club's youngest debutant in the process. His former academy manager, Roar Vikvang, praised Nypan's exceptional skills and maturity, stating that the club that signed him is indeed fortunate to have him.
Vikvang highlighted Nypan's technical abilities, noting that he can play in various positions, including as a number six, eight, or ten. He praised Nypan's ability to use both feet, provide crucial passes to teammates, and finish well. Vikvang also commended Nypan's speed, power, and ability to beat opponents with the ball.
Middlesbrough's manager, Rob Edwards, may give Nypan the opportunity to start in Saturday's match against Norwich, which could be a great chance for the young player to adjust to English football, a significant step up from his previous experience.
